A person wishing to register a British Birth Certificate in Poland, must provide sworn translation of Certified Copy of Birth Certificate, which is the long version of the certificate and contains child’s and parents’ data.
While registering the birth at a British register office you should ask to enter any foreign characters onto the certificate, if they are present in your name. British registrars issue documents with foreign characters and doing this while registering the birth, will save potential problems later while registering the birth in Poland.
The cost of translating a birth certificate is £35 and the standard turnaround time is 3 working days once the payment has cleared. If the document bears an Apostille, the cost of translating the whole document to Polish is £45 (£35 + £10 additional charge for the Apostille).
At the Polish registry office the original document must be presented as well as the translation, however, according to Polish regulations, the documents are not attached.
